The Shannon Center for Advanced Studies

The Shannon Center, named for the University’s fourth president, Edgar Shannon Jr., has played a key role in the recruitment and retention of outstanding faculty to the University of Virginia. Since its inception in 1965, many appointments have been made through the Center. Faculty recruited through Center appointments have helped establish the University's reputation as one of the best public universities in the United States. Center support may be sought for the recruitment and retention of highly exceptional academic faculty. Initial queries must be made through the appropriate school's dean's office.
