Scott Beardsley Named Next Dean of Darden School of Business

Scott C. BeardsleyThe University of Virginia announced today that Scott C. Beardsley has been selected as the ninth dean of the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. He will also occupy the Charles C. Abbott Professorship in Business Administration, traditionally held by the dean. Currently a senior partner of McKinsey & Company, Beardsley will assume the role Aug. 1.

The University of Virginia celebrated the historical, political and cultural implications of the fall of Berlin Wall last week, remembering the 25th anniversary of the wall’s dismantling. Hosting students, community members and visitors, The Berlin Wall Symposium featured events that reflected on the Cold War tension embedded in the wall and world developments in the 25 years since its fall.

Its name is Rivanna, and it’s the University of Virginia’s new $2.4 million Cray computing cluster, a high-performance machine – really a combination of linked high-power computers (hence, “cluster”) – designed to greatly enhance and establish computationally intensive and data-intensive research at the University.
