Mini-grants for Enhancing Faculty Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Faculty and staff from any school, department, or unit of UVA are invited to apply for a grant from the Office of the Provost to support a project aimed at improving institutional climate, equity, and diversity for faculty at UVA. In support of the goals of the UVA 2030 Strategic Plan, the Racial Equity Taskforce Report (PDF), and the Inclusive Excellence Process at UVA, our hope is that faculty and staff can address areas of concern in particular areas of the University - either through new initiatives or through building upon previously successful efforts - to enhance the climate and culture for current faculty, create greater equity for faculty across the University, and recruit and retain a more diverse faculty. Funds can be used for events, wages, travel, goods and services, or other expenses as approved.

To apply for a grant up to $10,000, please submit a proposal statement of up to 1,000 words, describing the proposed project, including the rationale, the intended audience, a plan for implementation, and a projected budget here. Reviews will begin on May 16. Proposals will be selected based on the evidence of potential efficacy of the idea, originality, thoroughness of the implementation plan, scope of impact, and cost. Please confirm that you that you have verified with either your department chair or your dean that your proposal is consistent with the strategic direction of your unit.
