A member of the UVA faculty since 2004, Christian's research and teaching focuses on American Indian history and the history of epidemic disease.
Full Bio
He is a professor of history and served as associate dean for social sciences in Arts & Sciences from 2018-2022. Christian has written books on American Indian law and land claims; a global history of tuberculosis and HIV; and a synthesis of the history of pandemics over the last thousand years (written before the covid-19 pandemic).
