Subject: Fall 2026 Student Employment Updates
Dear Student Employee Supervisors and Hiring Managers,
We hope your Fall 2026 semester is off to a great start! As we welcome students back to Grounds, we want to ensure you’re aware of the following resources and opportunities designed to support your work with student employees.
All faculty and staff involved in student employment – including supervisors, hiring managers, administrative teams, or others – are invited to join the Student Employment Collab. The Collab meets twice a semester and serves as a space to share updates on student employment initiatives and connect with others who support student employees across Grounds. Our kick-off meeting for the 2026-2027 academic year will be held on Tuesday, September 15th at 10am. If you’d like to learn more or join our Listserv for updates on relevant events and opportunities, please complete this interest form.
Teams from across the University provide annual updates to handbooks and guidance related to student employment, including the 2026-2027 Wage Authorization from the Office of the Provost and the 2026-27 Federal Work Study Handbook from Student Financial Services. Please review these resources for the latest updates and reach out to the respective offices with questions.
We encourage you and your student employees to follow @UVAStudentEmployment on Instagram for resources, helpful tips, and details on Surprise Recognition giveaways throughout the semester. After the success of previous year’s Headshot Pop-ups, we’re planning to provide an opportunity for free headshots for student employees in BOTH the fall and spring semesters. Details about this event and others planned for the fall will be shared via our Listserv and Instagram.
Need assistance? For issues or resources related to student employment, visit the Student Employment Website or email us at StudentEmployment@virginia.edu.
We look forward to another great semester and thank you for all the work you put into training, mentoring, and supporting student employees across Grounds. We hope to connect with you at our upcoming Student Employment Collab meetings, via email or social media, or at our fall events!
Thank you and have a wonderful semester.
