Jerilyn Teahan

Full Bio

She works closely with the communications and web team to share information and news about academic initiatives and the work that the Provost's office does to sustain and advance academic excellence.  

Jerilyn has been at UVA since 1995. While pursuing a master’s degree in education, she worked as a graduate advisor for student activities. Upon completing her master’s degree, she worked in the UVA Advancement office for three years, then spent close to fifteen years in the president’s office, and more than eight years in the office of the executive vice president and chief operating officer. She joined the provost’s team in March 2023. Jerilyn has been fortunate to have had opportunities to work as a generalist and as a specialist, advising senior leaders on a broad range of issues. She enjoys creating strategies, rolling up her sleeves and taking care of details, and facilitating collaboration among colleagues across organizational boundaries.  

Prior to coming to UVA, Jerilyn did her undergraduate work at Washington and Lee University, where she majored in journalism and mass communications and then had her first full-time job in alumni affairs. After a brief stint in a corporate job, Jerilyn knew that working in support of higher education was what she was called to do. She has been privileged to build her career at UVA, working alongside talented and dedicated colleagues.
