Update to Academic General Faculty about PROV-004 Policy

Dear Colleagues,

I write to share that the revised policy, PROV-004: Employment of Academic General Faculty Members (Tenure-Ineligible), is now posted in the policy directory.

I am incredibly grateful for the engagement of the faculty working group who shaped this policy update over the last year. Thank you also to the faculty members who responded to the survey regarding proposed policy changes; your feedback helped us better understand your perspectives and priorities.

While this policy is not set to undergo formal review again until 2031, we will continue to evaluate its impacts and consider policy revisions when needed to best support the faculty. There is no sunset provision included; schools have 12 months to update school-level policies to align with this revision. Thus, not all changes to PROV-004 will be enforceable until schools have finalized their policy updates.

Below, please find a list of substantive policy changes as part of this revision. Please direct any questions to vpfa@virginia.edu.
