Diversity Resources by Schools

Architecture
UVA School of Architecture is committed to the ongoing project of democracy as both a right and a responsibility. We understand that universities play a fundamental role in guiding the formation of informed, respectful, collaborative, empathetic, and engaged planetary citizens. As a public university, we are committed to expanding access to education and professional development.

Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy
the Batten School community aims to develop an organizational culture where diversity, including diversity in race and ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, veteran status, physical and mental abilities, political philosophy, socio-economic status and intellectual focus, is viewed as a strategic imperative.

School of Education and Human Development
The School of Education and Human Development values diversity, equity and inclusion in all of its complexity and richness. We engage our students with multiple perspectives to prepare them to be active agents of change in a complex global society. We intentionally seek opportunities to expand diversity at our school through recruitment, retention, teaching, research and service. Our goal is the development of a community that promotes and values diversity and equity.

Darden School of Business
The Darden School improves the world by developing and inspiring responsible leaders and by advancing knowledge. We commit to develop the School’s ability to leverage our diversity — the multitude of differences among all of our stakeholders — to achieve excellence in business education in today’s complex global marketplace.

School of Engineering
Addressing society's complex challenges will require everyone's talents and perspectives. The vision for UVA Engineering's diversity efforts, led by the Office of Diversity and Engagement, is to harness the strategic value of diversity, inclusion and engagement in UVA Engineering's educational and research programs.

School of Law
At Virginia, a rigorous and academically challenging education is paired with an environment in which all voices are heard and all views shared. Teamwork, cooperation, respect for different points of view, skilled communication and an understanding of varied perspectives and experiences are all an integral part of a profession that serves an increasingly diverse society.

McIntire School of Commerce
Our mission at McIntire is to recruit, support, and educate a community as diverse as the global workforce, and to celebrate the unlimited possibilities of our shared talents.

School of Medicine
In the Office for Diversity, we are committed to ensure that diversity is more than a buzzword, and that our culture and community actually reflect the values of inclusion and fairness. For students, housestaff, faculty, staff and patients alike, we strive to foster a sense of community that values and takes advantage of our differences and similarities in gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and beyond.

School of Nursing
The need for a diverse nursing workforce has never been greater. Not just because patients want caregivers who look like them and speak their language - though that's part it it - but because we understand that you can't reduce health inequities, improve care and patients' health outcomes without a widened view of the world derived through engagement across difference, understanding and humility.
