In spring 2021, the Provost’s Office conducted a survey of faculty to gauge the impact on faculty work and well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since 1994, the Shannon Center for Advanced Studies endowment has been used to support outstanding faculty members at the University. In 2023, Executive Vice President and Provost Ian Baucom launched a new program to recognize excellent faculty members who are in the middle of their academic careers. Nominated by their deans, each Shannon Center Mid-Career Fellow receives funding to advance their research, scholarship, or special projects.
Women’s Center to host lunch honoring recipients of the Elizabeth Zintl Leadership Award over the past 25 years and celebrating women’s leadership.
The honorary rank of professor emeritus or associate professor emeritus may be conferred upon senior academic faculty at the time of their retirement from the University to honor extraordinary contributions over the course of their careers.
These faculty are former associate or full professors with at least ten years of service who have been nominated by their department chair and dean, and approved by the provost, president, and the Board of Visitors.
